If you have been prescribed Enantyum (dexketoprofen) and paracetamol (acetaminophen), they can be taken together or alternated, depending on your clinician’s instructions. The most important thing is to follow the dose and timing for each one and not go over the daily maximum.
Why can Enantyum and paracetamol be combined?
Because they work differently. Enantyum is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and paracetamol is an analgesic and antipyretic, without a significant anti-inflammatory effect. Therefore, in some cases of pain, a healthcare professional may prescribe them on the same day to improve pain management without adding two anti-inflammatories.
How many hours should I leave between taking Enantyum and paracetamol?
It depends on the schedule you were given and on the Enantyumdose. If your doctor has advised alternating them, a common approach in pain control plans is to take a dose every four hours, alternating an analgesic like paracetamol with an anti-inflammatory, while never taking doses early and never exceeding the daily maximum.
| Sample timetable | What to take |
|---|---|
| 10:00 AM | Enantyum |
| 2:00 PM | Paracetamol |
| 6:00 PM | Enantyum |
| 10:00 PM | Paracetamol |
Why shouldn't Enantyum be mixed with ibuprofen?
Because Enantyum and ibuprofen They are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Taking them together increases the risk of gastrointestinal irritation and bleeding and can also worsen kidney tolerance, without providing a clear improvement in pain relief in most cases. If the pain persists, it is better to consult a doctor to adjust the dosage than to add another NSAID.
Who shouldn't take them?
Enantyum is not for use in children. Avoid it if you have an ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding, severe kidney or liver failure, or are in the third trimester of pregnancy. In older adults or those with cardiovascular risk factors, use the lowest dose for the shortest duration. If you experience any signs of bleeding or an allergic reaction, stop use and seek medical help.
If you consume alcohol daily (three or more drinks), use extra caution with paracetamol, as it can damage the liver. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking any medication.
