When constipation strikes, you need a plan that works today. With Movicol (macrogol + electrolytes) The difference is made by how you take it: correct dilution, daily routine, and sufficient hydration. In practice, it usually becomes noticeable within 24–48 hours, so consistency is more important than time.

Is it better in the morning or at night?

There's no "best" time: morning or night works equally well; choose a time you can repeat daily. Taking it in the morning allows you to observe the effect throughout the day; if it's more convenient for you, taking it in the evening is also fine.

For common constipation, adults typically use one sachet per day, although this can be adjusted to three sachets per day if necessary and always according to medical advice. For fecal impaction, higher doses are used in divided doses under professional supervision. Avoid scheduling this dose just before leaving home or before long meetings.

Should it be taken with meals or on an empty stomach?

It can be taken with or without food; food does not affect its effectiveness. If you experience gastric discomfort, try accompanying it with a light meal and maintain a regular schedule. Add helpful habits: gradually increasing fiber intake, some physical activity, and not delaying the urge to have a bowel movement. Important: Do not take other oral medications from one hour before to one hour after taking Movicol to reduce interference with its absorption.

The key factor: how much water should I drink with the sachet?

Dissolve each sachet in 125 ml of water and drink the entire glass. Using less water reduces its effectiveness and is not recommended. Like all osmotic laxatives, it can cause bloating or flatulence, especially at first. Combine it with 2–2.5 liters of fluids a day (water or broth), unless your doctor has prescribed a restriction due to heart or kidney problems.

Do not mix the powder directly with milk, juice, or other beverages: reconstitute with water first; then, if necessary, you can add a little juice to improve the flavor. In summary: correct dilution (125 ml), a daily routine, and sufficient hydration maximize the performance of Movicol. If there is no response after 48 hours or you need to increase the dose, consult your pharmacist or doctor.
