The Galician Health Service (Sergas) is preparing to integrate social determinants into the clinical history of its patients, an initiative that seeks to evaluate the impact of factors such as employment status, lifestyle habits and risk behaviors on the health of Galicians.
This was announced by Alfredo Silva, Director General of Health Care at Sergas, during his participation in a conference held at the La Paz University Hospital in Madrid, dedicated to regional initiatives in public health.
Silva highlighted that the incorporation of this data will allow for a more comprehensive analysis of population needs and more effective health planning. To manage this information, Sergas will launch a Technical Office for Health Results, an organization that will evaluate social and clinical variables to optimize healthcare in Galicia.
In addition, Silva announced that the Xunta de Galicia is working on the development of a new “7P healthcare model”. This model will be preventive, predictive, proactive, professional, participatory, personalized and population-based, with the aim of improving equity and efficiency in health services.
The event organized by La Paz Hospital brought together health experts from across the country to discuss policies and challenges surrounding health equity.
