The Community of Madrid has announced an investment of 13.5 million euros aimed at improving the care of minors under guardianship with moderate or severe disabilities and conduct disorders.
This initiative, approved by the Governing Council, seeks to guarantee essential resources for the care and development of children and young people in vulnerable situations. The contracts will be valid during the years 2025 and 2026.
Of the total budget, 11.3 million euros will be allocated to the care of 76 minors up to 17 years of age with disabilities. These funds will be available between January 1, 2025 and the December 31, 2026, and will be used to provide advanced resources including multi-sensory stimulation rooms, adapted technological devices such as electronic whiteboards and special keyboards, as well as articulated beds, cranes and vehicles with capacity for seven people. These services aim to meet the specific needs of these minors and promote their comprehensive development.
Specialized residential care
On the other hand, they will be invested 2.2 million euros to care for 38 minors under guardianship with cognitive deficit and behavioral disorders, aged between 6 and 18 years. This budget will cover the period between May 1, 2025 and the April 30, 2026.
The investment will be directed to two specialized residential care centers, where the minors will receive comprehensive services including custody, personal care, food, recreational activities and necessary health treatments. In addition, these centers will offer educational, therapeutic and social care that seeks to improve the quality of life of the young people and help them overcome their challenges.
Currently, the Community of Madrid protects more than 4,000 minors through its child protection network. Of these, 1,700 are in residential care and 2,300 are participating in foster care programmes. This new investment reinforces the authorities' commitment to the continuous improvement of services for the most vulnerable minors.
