The Community of Madrid will allocate more than 6.6 million euros during the next two years to a specialized care and rehabilitation program for children between 3 and 14 years old with diseases of the nervous system, congenital abnormalities or mental disorders.
This initiative, approved today by the Governing Council, ensures access to a comprehensive care service at the Dionisia Plaza Centre, a day hospital located in Madrid.
This new contract guarantees the existence of 160 places to offer personalized care and rehabilitation to these minors, who due to the severity of their conditions cannot receive the necessary treatment in the regular mental health, education or social services of the Community of Madrid. In certain cases, the program will allow minors to receive full-time care when their therapeutic needs require it.
Comprehensive care to improve quality of life
The program is designed to cover the complexity of care required by these minors, incorporating a team of professionals specialized in various disciplines, with the aim of improving their quality of life and providing medical and psychological care adapted to their needs. This investment responds to the commitment of the Community of Madrid to provide high quality and appropriate care to children and adolescents with complex clinical profiles, who require specialized therapies that cannot be offered in ordinary services. According to regional authorities, this measure aims not only to cover current needs, but also to offer ongoing support in a safe and specific care space for each patient.
