Within the framework of a collaboration agreement signed between the NGO More than a pharmacy and the Higher Council of Public Health of El Salvador, have launched a training project for more than 800 Salvadoran pharmacists in the health and social fields. This effort seeks to strengthen pharmaceutical care and public health in the country, especially benefiting the most vulnerable populations.
Start of the diploma in pharmaceutical care and public health
The program officially started on November 21, 2024 with the launch of the I Diploma Course in Pharmaceutical Care and Public Health. This course aims primarily to integrate aspects related to the social determinants of health into the services provided by pharmacists. This perspective is key to serving communities with high levels of vulnerability.
Training for pharmacists in El Salvador will be provided by experts from recognized institutions such as the Ibero-American Academy of Pharmacy, he College of Pharmacy of Seville, the NGO More than a pharmacy, and the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Seville.
Agreement for the development of training projects
The agreement, signed last July 10, 2024, seals the commitment between both institutions to implement training projects both online and in person. This agreement had the participation of Mr. Elias Daniel Quinteros Valle, president of the Superior Council of Public Health of El Salvador, and Mr. Jesus Sanchez Burson, president of More Than Pharmacy.
Jesús Sánchez Burón highlighted the importance of the project and noted that “this advance allows us to work directly with health institutions on the ground, sharing knowledge and experiences that will contribute to improving the health of the communities we serve, in this case, in El Salvador.”
