The State Agency for Research (AEI), dependent on the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, has launched two calls for aid for scientific research and knowledge transfer projects in 2024.
The total budget reaches 995 million euros and is co-financed by European funds FEDER and the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+).
Two key calls for scientific research and public-private collaboration in Spain
The calls are divided into Knowledge Generation Projects and training of predoctoral research staff and Public-Private Collaboration Projects.
Both initiatives seek promote scientific research and its application in practical solutions, benefiting universities, research centres and innovative companies.
Knowledge Generation Projects and Predoctoral Training
This call is the most important for the Spanish scientific sector. It is aimed at more than 3,000 research groups with the aim of financing high-quality scientific projects.
Scientific research projects are aimed at generating knowledge and addressing social challenges in different fields of knowledge. In addition, the training of predoctoral researchers through contracts associated with research.
The total budget amounts to 675 million euros, 36% more than in 2018. Of this amount, 498 million are granted in the form of a grant and 177 million as a repayable ERDF advance.
This financing can be requested from January 9 to 31, 2025.
Public-private collaboration projects
This call is intended to strengthen the Collaboration between research centres and companiesIts objective is to validate and develop new technologies, products and services.
The total budget is 320 million euros will be distributed as follows: 80 million in grants, 60 million as a repayable ERDF advance and 180 million in loans.
The application period is open from January 15 to February 5, 2025.
